How a Phoenix-Area Landscape Design-Build Company Tracked $1.97M in Won Jobs in Three Months
The Challenge
Landscape design-build in the Phoenix metro is a considered purchase. A backyard with hardscape, turf, lighting and an outdoor kitchen can run well into five figures, and homeowners take their time: they compare portfolios, read reviews and want a price range before they book a consult.
For most contractors the marketing question stops at "how many leads did we get?" That number is easy to inflate and hard to bank. The question that matters is which leads turned into signed work, and where they came from.
The Strategy
We built the program around getting every inquiry into one place and tying it to the job it became:
- Paid search for buyers, not browsers. Google Ads campaigns built around landscape design-build searches in the towns they serve, with conversion tracking sending real lead outcomes back to Google.
- An instant price estimator. Homeowners get a ballpark range on the website before they call. In October about one in four new inquiries came in this way, and each one lands in the CRM with the project details already filled in.
- Meta ads and a Google profile that pull their weight. Social ads keep the work in front of local homeowners, and the Google Business Profile, with 76 reviews averaging 4.8 stars, sent over 1,000 visits to the website in the last 12 months.
- JBL Connect on every lead. Calls, forms, estimator requests and messages all land in one CRM, and the team marks each job won with its value. That habit is what makes this case study possible.
The Results
$1.97M in won jobs, logged one by one. Between August 1 and November 4, 2026 the team marked 48 jobs as won in the CRM: about $295K in August, $852K in September and $755K in October.
Online channels carry the load. About $1.17M of that won value came from jobs that started online: Google searches, the ads, the website contact form, the estimator, social media and AI search. The rest came from referrals, past customers, partner designers, review sites and jobs with no source logged.
A job that came from an AI assistant. One high-value job came in from a homeowner who found the company by asking an AI assistant. It's an early sign of where local search is heading, and part of why we build every client's site and profile to be read and recommended by AI tools.
Steady inquiry flow. 409 new inquiries reached the CRM from August to October 2026, and Google Ads conversions cost about $154 each over those three months, for projects that are often worth tens of thousands of dollars.
The Numbers
Every figure on this page comes straight from the client's CRM and ad accounts: won jobs and their values as the team logged them, inquiries as they arrived, and ad costs from Google's own reporting.
We don't model a return multiple for this one. The won jobs are in the CRM with their values and sources attached, and that is the number we stand behind.
The Takeaway
Leads are a vanity number until you know which ones signed. A company that logs every won job with its value can see which channels actually pay, move budget toward them, and stop guessing. That's the setup we build for every growth program client.
